The Information Centre organises a monthly introductory session on study and research opportunities in Germany. Every first Thursday of the month our team presents the most relevant information in a seminar-style format followed by a question and answer secession and individual consultation.
In addition to that, the IC Accra also organises symposia on various university campuses around the country. As a special service, the DAAD country director is available to give presentations on study and research opportunities in Germany upon invitation by a student or professional organisation.
Self-funded students are encouraged to seek advice from the Information Centre before the student visa interview.
All services of the Information Centre are provided free of charge.
The IC Team
Ms. Lena Leumer is the Director of the DAAD Information Centre. After working at the DAAD headquarters in Bonn for 6 years, she joined the team in Accra in September 2017. She worked for DAAD’s Africa Section and the Strategy Section for Development Cooperation and has profound knowledge of Higher Education cooperation with countries of the Global South, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Felix Barnes is the Programme Officer of the Information Centre Accra. He joined the team after some years of study and professional experience in Germany. He completed his Master’s in Sustainable Resource Management in Munich - an international degree programme. Having studied in Germany as a foreign student, he is in the best position to help Ghanaian students wanting to study in Germany. He is available for personal consultation at the DAAD Information Centre in the Goethe-Institut (next to NAFTI, East Cantonments).
Christian Lasmothey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Translation Studies (English, French, German) from the Ghana Institute of Languages. He is also an alumnus of the DAAD Summer School Scholarship programme.
Having spent a summer at the University of Jena, he is privileged to have first-hand information about higher education and student life in Germany. He is happy to assist you in making your ambitions of higher education in Germany a reality.
Lilian Reichert joined our team as a volunteer from Germany under the Kulturweit volunteer programme of the German UNESCO commission and the German Federal Foreign Office. She recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and administrative Law from the University of Erfurt.
Lilian has been working as a student assistant at the Max-Weber-College for social- and cultural Sciences and chair of political theory. Furthermore, she has been working as a tutor for incoming students. Since she self-financed her education, she has acquired immense knowledge about finding jobs and about finding accommodation in Germany. She is delighted to answer all your questions about studying and living in Germany.
