The AIMS African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in South Africa calls for applications for 2 postdoctoral fellowships and 3 PhD positions. The field of studies is in Partial Differential Equations and Calculus of Variations.

The German research chair with specialization in Partial Differential Equations and Calculus of Variations at AIMS South Africa, in collaboration with the Communication and Information Theory Chair at TU Berlin, is offering two Postdoctoral fellowships and three PhD positions at AIMS South Africa research center in Cape Town. These fellowships are made available and funded by the DAAD to promote international academics exchange as well as educational co-operation with developing countries through a variety of funding and scholarship programs.

Scientific interests:
The German Chair’s research, at AIMS South Africa, revolves mostly around problems in Fluid Dynamics, games involving large number rational agents and optimal transport.  More specifically, the Chair is interested in the Almost Axisymmetric Flows that arise in Meteorology, Mean Field Games and applications of the theory of optimal transport.

The deadline of applications is the 19th of January.
